Customs officials questioning a pair of women who'd flown from South America to New York City on Sunday morning made a hair-raising discovery in their hair-dos: pounds of cocaine.
According to the affidavit uncovered by The Smoking Gun website, agents became suspicious of Makeeba Graham and Kiana Howell because of their unusually "bulky" hairstyles, and because the suspects became increasingly uncomfortable under questioning.
When an agents patted down the hair of each suspect separately, they detected lumps in their hair weaves. When the weaves were taken apart at a medical facility, more than two pounds of cocaine was found in each. Howell and Graham were both charged with felony narcotics smuggling.
